AAPI Heritage Month Cinema Series IconJoin us for the Hemphill Branch's AAPI Heritage Month Cinema Series, a month long showcase of classic and contemporary films created by Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander actors, writers, directors, and filmmakers. From the hard-hitting social commentary of Parasite to the magical musical adventure of Moana, each film explores a different aspect of the Asian/AAPI story across theme and genre.

On Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 am, we are screening Mulan, the original Disney musical starring Ming-Na Wen based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan.

Here is a description of the film: "When Imperial China calls one man from every family to defend the empire from invading Huns, a young woman disguises herself as a soldier to take her ailing father’s place. Facing ruthless invaders, brutal training, and the risk of execution if discovered, she must decide who she truly is— and what she’s willing to fight for."

The film is rated G and is suitable for all ages.
