Tell me more about PLANIT GSO.
PLANIT GSO was the name of the community-driven process for updating the City's previous comprehensive plan. This update was based on public input gathered at various open houses and community events, and from online surveys. This process helped shape the future of Greensboro.
What is a comprehensive plan and how does it impact me?
A comprehensive plan is a guide created with the help from public input that helps municipalities develop a clear vision for their future. Your involvement is important because your input directly affects the goals outlined in the plan and the strategies for how to achieve those goals.
Why was the previous comprehensive plan updated?
The previous comprehensive plan was adopted in 2003. A lot has changed since then, in Greensboro and across the country. Updating the City's comprehensive plan to reflect those changes is important for making sure Greensboro's growth and development trends coincide with nationwide trends.
How did residents get involved?
- Thoughts were shared on Greensboro's growth by taking our surveys.
- Residents signed up on our website's e-Notification system for emails whenever there was news about the plan. Folks still receive those notifications when quarterly plan updates are posted on this Web page.
